1. Mini Goldendoodles Give Lots of Love

It is true! The Mini Goldendoodle loves everyone and everything, especially their humans! Have a new baby? The Mini Goldendoodle will gently and attentively watch over her. Lots of friends coming over? Perfect! The Mini Goldendoodle thrives on attention and they’ll be so happy with the extra love. Luckily, the Mini Goldendoodle is even okay with sharing the spotlight with other animals - they love having pet siblings to romp and play around with. And with the happy-go-lucky Golden Retriever genes, the Mini Goldendoodle never meets a stranger. Unfortunately, the flip side is that they typically hate being left alone and may become destructive if they are lonely for extended periods. The may act out by chewing, scratching, or barking. So, it is best to provide Mini Goldendoodles with a doggy daycare or walking service if you will be gone frequently throughout the day.

2. These Tiny Mini Goldendoodles are Super Smart

Golden Retrievers and Poodles are both known for their outstanding intelligence and ability to learn. So the Mini Goldendoodle gets double the smarts, making them highly trainable! As with most dogs, these pups do best with positive, reward based training methods. Instead of punishing them when they’re caught doing something wrong, simply redirect them and praise them when doing something right. Because they are so eager to please, high-pitched verbal praise and lots of petting should be enough reward. But, you can also use small treats and special toys to really send the “Good Boy” message home!

3. Mini Goldendoodles are Nothing to Sneeze At

Thanks to their Poodle genes, the Mini Goldendoodles have low-shedding coats. Because of this highly sought after trait, they have become very popular with dog lovers who suffer allergies. Mini Goldendoodles are naturally hypoallergenic, meaning they produce less dander. So, they do not trigger sneezing, itchy, watery eyes and other bothersome allergy side effects. If you have always dreamed of owning a pet, but your allergies have held you back - look no further. The Mini Goldendoodle is perfect for you! Plus, you won’t have to vacuum as much as you would with other dogs. It’s a win win!

4. This Cuddly Pup is a Personal Teddy Bear

Mini Goldendoodles are bred from Golden Retrievers and Miniature Poodles. So they are perfectly sized for your lap. And that’s just where they want to be! They only weigh about 15 to 30 pounds and usually only grow to about 15 inches in height. Sure, they are a little bit bigger than your average lap dog - but try telling them that. And who does not love to cuddle an oversized teddy bear? We’d certainly jump at that opportunity!

5. Mini Goldendoodles Come with a Heavy Price Tag

Any time a large breed is mixed with a smaller breed, artificial insemination and Cesarean section births are performed. Unfortunately, this alone drives up the cost for miniature breeds. But of course, the growing popularity and demand of Mini Goldendoodles have also inflated the price. You can expect to pay anywhere from $1,500 to more than $3,500 for this fluffy teddy pup! That’s certainly hefty, but you will be paid back in a lifetime of endless love and cuddles - Mini Goldendoodles typically live between 10 to 15 years - plenty of time to enjoy!

6. Mini Goldendoodles also Come with Hybrid Concerns

Adored for their small size and gentle nature, Mini Goldendoodles are a sure winner in our book! But, they are still a hybrid breed. And as with any mixed dog, it can be difficult to predict temperament and characteristics of each individual puppy in a specific litter. Your Mini Goldendoodle may receive more traits from his Miniature Poodle parent - making him more prone to boredom and destructive behaviors like chewing and barking if left unchecked. Or maybe, he will be more like his Golden Retriever parent, making him larger than expected or desired. But don’t worry. These risks can be minimized by buying a later generation Mini Goldendoodle instead of a first generation.

7. Mini Goldendoodles have Different Generations

When a breeder decides to produce Mini Goldendoodle puppies, they typically start with a female Golden Retriever and male Miniature Poodle. The first litter is known as the first generation, or F1. The F1 puppies have a greater chance of variability when it comes to size, temperament, and personality. But then, the breeder takes two F1 puppies, that are not related, to create the second generation, or F2. Each subsequent generation is denoted as F3, F4, etc. and they have less variability than the previous generations. Their sizes and other traits become easier to control and predict. So your best bet when adding a Mini Goldendoodle to your family, is to buy from an F2 or later generation. However, price usually increases with each generation as well. So you’ll just have to consider all options when deciding what’s best for you!

8. Mini Goldendoodles Hail from All Over the Map

What do America, Australia, and England have in come? Well surprisingly, they all offer various types of Mini Goldendoodles. For example, Australian Mini Goldendoodles share blood with Labradoodles and Spaniels. In their earlier generations, these breeds were mixed together, but the genes are so diluted now it does not make much difference and they are considered Mini Goldendoodles all the same! And while the American Mini Goldendoodles tend to have a richer, more golden coat, the English pups are lighter colored and often larger than the other types. Either way, they all have the tell-tale curly coats and adorable faces that we just can not get enough of!

9. Mini Goldendoodles are Tiny but Mighty

Do not let their small size fool you! While they do love to snuggle up in your lap for a good cuddle session, Mini Goldendoodles have tons of energy to burn. Golden Retrievers and Poodles were both bred as working dogs, and with this ancestry, the Mini Goldendoodle requires lots of active play time. For example, it is best to provide them with at least one hour per day of running and playing. You can even try swimming as Mini Goldendoodles are known to love the water! And of course with their Golden Retriever genes, they adore to fetch balls or other items. Mini Goldendoodles will also make great adventure buddies - take them along for your hikes or nightly walks and you will have a very happy pup!

10. Mini Goldendoodles are the New Kids on the Block

These dogs are perfect for families, big or small. So do you ever wonder why you never had a Mini Goldendoodle growing up? Or better yet, why you never even recall seeing one around at all? Well, that is because the Goldendoodle hybrid did not exist until the 1990s - after the emergence of Labradoodles. People saw how great the Labrador Poodle Mix turned out and wondered what it’d be like to cross Poodles with Golden Retrievers. Then the beloved Goldendoodle was born! And the miniature version came even later than that. But do not worry - now is as good a time as any! You can get a Mini Goldendoodle and be a total trendsetter at the dog park!

What could be better than a super friendly and easy-natured pup that looks and feels like a real life teddy bear? Nothing!
